Finding about being bipolar or depression and asking questions or sharing information about yourself can be intensely personal. I respect your desire to be private and I offer the following assurances about being identified when you send e-mail or browse the site.
On this page: Confidentiality | Internet Safety | Analysis | Copyright
Confidentiality
» Information sent to me is treated confidentially. I do not let anyone else see the e-mails, I do not talk about notes sent to me, and in the cases where I might ask for assistance I give out no more information than "someone sent me a note about...". Your name and your e-mail addresses are never revealed and I do not print out any copies of my e-mails.
» I do not and will not ever make your e-mail address or e-mails available to any person or organisation regardless of the purpose.
» I occasionally use e-mails sent to me as the basis for topics on my website. If I do this with your e-mail, I usually rewrite it and all information that might identify you is stripped out.
Internet Safety
» Please follow the standard internet rules regarding sharing information. I like having a first name because it make it easier to respond to you, but please do not send me information that makes you identifiable, such as your full name, address, telephone numbers or fax numbers.
» Please also be courteous and do not sent me this information about someone else, such as a boyfriend or family member.
» Please let me know if you are under 18 years of age. It is also strongly recommended that if you are under 18 years old that you inform your parents, or guardian, or a teacher, or an adult you trust, or a good friend that you are in contact with me.
» Further information about me can be found on the About page.
» It is strongly recommended that you do not use a workplace e-mail to correspond with me. Correspondence from / to a workplace e-mail address may belong to the employer and such e-mails are subject to the employer's view. Get a Gmail or Yahoo mail account if you need a private e-mail address.
Analysis
» I've gotten enough e-mail over the years to do some analysis of the types of mail I get. The analysis is simple counting - I assign your e-mail to a category or to multiple categories. Your e-mail address or name is never attached to this count.
» Once I've categorised your e-mail, I archive it for a year or so, then I discard it. Once I discard your e-mail, I have no connection to you again and no way of getting in touch with you (or giving your e-mail to anyone).
» This is a change of my old policy - where I simply archived your mail (as I do with all my mail, not just this website's). I currently have old mail which I am in the process of categorising and discarding.
» Like most websites, I use website analytics to see how many people are visiting my website and what pages are being read. Although I get a lot of information, I cannot identify any individual person from this data. And I don't want to.
Copyright
» Anything you write to me in an e-mail or send to me belongs to you. By sending me information, you do not grant me any additional rights for reproduction except for their backup and storage.
Information about me is listed on the About page.
